What they do

Founded by Hannah Reiss and Marcus Cole.

Verdant builds the software and robotics that let a small biology team run experiments at a scale that used to require a much larger lab. Protocols are versioned, runs are reproducible, and results come back structured.

Their customers are companies of five to fifty people who need throughput long before they can afford to build their own automation group.

Why we invested
This was our first investment outside software, and we spent longer on it than usual. What convinced us was watching two customers describe Verdant as the reason they could stay small, which is a durable kind of dependency.
